Provenance
Isabel Miramontes remembers a bronze sculpture facing the sea in Asturia, a region close to her native Galicia. Her story had deeply touched her. The work represents a woman in a hatchback, with drawn features, stretching her arm out to sea. It is a mother who sees her son leave for America. This one made her a promise to come back to him, but she knows that he will not be able to keep his promise, and she knows that she is seeing him for the last time, she tries to hold him back while saying goodbye to him and leaving her loved child free to go and build his future, full of hope.
This memory inspired Promesse, a sculpture whose body soars with confidence and strength.
