Provenance
Isabel Miramontes was deeply moved by a bronze sculpture in Asturia, near her native Galicia—depicting a mother reaching out to the sea, bidding farewell to her son as he sets sail for America. Though he promised to return, she knows this goodbye is final. She lets him go, torn between love, sorrow, and hope for his future.
This poignant memory inspired Promesse, a sculpture whose figure soars with both strength and longing, embodying the delicate balance between holding on and letting go.
