For Isabel Miramontes, a sculpture is not a solid mass to be shaped, but a void to which the artist gives a surface. Her figures are reduced to their essential lines: reclining, fragmented, sometimes as if eroded by time. Faces are barely suggested. Bodies, cut into vertical strips, let light and space pass through. This emptiness is not a lack: it invites each viewer to project their own emotions, memories and story into the work.

Bronze, with its warmth and subtle patinas, lends itself perfectly to this tension between presence and disappearance. Her figures speak of the ambiguity of the human condition: strength and fragility, confinement and freedom, intimacy and universality.

Her works often evoke the feeling of looking at an old photograph: the subject may belong to the past, but its vitality remains intact. A chair, a bench, a curve, a sketched limb are enough to suggest the trace of a body, an invisible presence that still inhabits the space.

It is this quality that draws architects, interior designers and landscape architects to her work. They find in it pieces of great formal balance, which bring a moment of contemplation and quiet intensity to any space. Her works are held in collections including:

Born in 1962, Isabel Miramontes grew up in Belgium. She qualified as an art teacher at the Institut Sainte-Marie in Brussels, then continued her training at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Gilles, where she developed a rigorous practice of life drawing. The teaching of art historian Gastón Fernandez guided her towards a demanding yet open and generous approach to creation. In 1994, she discovered sculpture. This encounter became the heart of her artistic life. She has devoted herself entirely to it ever since, exhibiting in Europe, the United States and Asia.
