    I am Catherine Meulemans, gallerist and curator, and today I carry on Art Thema, a family story that began in 1983.

     

    I grew up surrounded by art, artists, works and encounters. That world shaped the way I see, but also the way I am: sensitive to beauty, attentive to others, intuitive in my choices… while remaining firmly grounded in reality.

     

    When I took over Art Thema, I did not want to reproduce the traditional model of a gallery set in a single place. I wanted a gallery that was more like me: lively, nomadic, agile and open to encounters. 

     

    Today, Art Thema unfolds through art fairs, pop-up exhibitions, and collaborations with companies, cities, exceptional venues and private collectors.

     

    I love this freedom, the freedom to bring art into places where you might not expect it. Taking part in a fair allows me to stage my artists' works and, through the scenography, to imagine a new story each time. In just a few days, encounters multiply, eyes meet, emotions flow. Everything becomes more intense. Because beauty calls for beauty.

     

    Travel has always been part of my DNA. It was only natural that the way I bring Art Thema to life should be in motion too.

    Our collectors now come from all over the world. Thirty years in the heart of Brussels, a city open to Europe and beyond, have built ties far beyond our borders. And habits have changed: thanks to photos, videos and remote conversations, people now choose a work with complete confidence without having seen it in person. I work with you in French and in English.

    I select the artists and works I represent with high standards, but above all with emotion. I love works that have a presence, works that tell a story without needing many words. And I love guiding each person with the same care, whether they are discovering contemporary art for the first time or have been collecting for years.

     

    Behind Art Thema lie a history, expertise and a network built over more than forty years. But above all, there is a human relationship, founded on trust.

     

    Art Thema is not just my profession. It is a story I have chosen to carry on in my own way, and one to which I have committed my life.
